Artist's Comments

This past weekend we made our annual trip to the Maryland Renaissance Festival. I make it sound like a big thing---it's actually maybe a 20-minute drive, at most. Some of the incredibly talented artisans there were kind enough to allow me to photograph their work. This is a stunning inlaid box by Pat Parker. I HIGHLY recommend visiting his shop if you go to the faire. Sadly he does not have a website that I can find, so I cannot direct you to his work online. I can't afford the boxes like this one, but I have some of his smaller, simpler pieces.

These are beautiful.

We must always match our faith with the truth, then it will move mountains...
The smaller, simple ones come as cheap as $10, which is really nice!

I've never been to a renissance festival, but I really want to go...especially with seeing these lovely crafts! O.O Next time one comes to NC I'll be sure to go.

I'm a fan of my DA friends

Ommit the 'til death do us part', I'm necrophilic :hump:

The crafts are the main reason why I go. There's something special about getting absolutely one-of-a-kind gifts for people you love, or knowing that by doing so you're supporting people who are doing something they truly love rather than a big corporation with assembly lines.

Yes, I like crafts better than commercial goods too. That goes for trinkets and produce (you can't beat fresh-from-the-garden vegetables and fruits!) I just wish people could afford the lovely hand made goods these days...stupid economy crisis. :X

I know! It's frustrating. :( I hate talking to these wonderful artisans and hearing about how slow and tough things have been for them this year.

:( Seriously! And I dumbly started my own art business this year...not the best time to be doing that. All artists are suffering and it really makes me mad....people can hardly find the money to live, so no one is buying lovely art and liezure items. The way to solve it - heavily tax imported goods to keep work in the USA! :D
